The Ranellis Donate $1 Million to MassGen Hospital

in October 2024, John and Ashley Ranelli donated $1 million to Massachusetts General Hospital (MassGen) to launch an endowed fund for cancer treatment research. The John and Ashley Ranelli Cancer Innovation Scholar™ fund establishes an annual financial award to the physcian-researchers at MassGen pursuing the most bold, promising, and innovative treatments in cancer care.

“One of the most difficult experiences we ever had was when Dr. Hochberg diagnosed my dad with mantle cell lymphoma, and our family went through the trauma of his illness and passing,” said Mr. Ranelli, “In that period, we learned more about life from Dr. Hochberg than any other experience we ever had.”

[Dr. Hochberg is the deputy clinical director of Mass General Cancer Center and the Ian K. and Isabelle P. Loring Endowed Chair in Lymphoma.]
